Safe Halloween Treats for Dogs!

Don't want your dog to be left out of all the Halloween fun? Why not try making some pet-safe Halloween treats that all the family can enjoy - yes, they're human safe too!

We've tried and tested three easy and healthy halloween treats you can make at home with basic cupboard ingredients, and even better - they don't require an oven!

Spooky fingers

What you'll need:

- Small carrots, washed

- Peanut butter (chunky or smooth)

- Red or green apple

How to make:

1. Cut the carrots into finger-length sections and use a peeler to shape them into finger-like shapes. The wrinklier and knobblier the better!

2. Using a peeler or a knife cut a thin piece of apple for a fingernail. You can make it long, short, rounded or pointy!

3. Using a small amount of peanut butter glue the "nail" in place. If it doesn't stick well simply use a peeler to shave a flat area on the tip of the carrot for it to stick to.

4. All done! Make a handful and share with the family!

Oaty Pumpkins

What you'll need:

- Oats

- Peanut butter (chunky or smooth)

- Celery or green beans, washed

- Apple slice

How to make:

1. Pour 1/2 cup of oats into a mixing bowl and add a tablespoon of peanut butter at a time, stirring as you go, until it begins to form together. You can also use your hands to combine the mixture if you find it easier.

2. Once the mixture has come together and the bottom of the bowl is clean (no stray oats left at the bottom) it is properly mixed and you can shape it into balls.

3. Cut a small piece of celery or green bean into a 'stalk' and push it gently into the top of each ball to finish.

4. Cut two triangles of apple for the eyes and stick to the pumpkin with a small amount of peanut butter.

Apple Monsters

What you'll need:

- small apples, washed, cored and de-seeded

- peanut butter (chunky or smooth)

- sunflower seeds, dehusked

1. Once the apples have been cored and de-seeded, cut them into 8 thick slices.

2. Take an apple slice and spread it with enough peanut butter to cover it. Only spread one side!

3. Take another apple slice and repeat, only this time take your sunflower seeds and press them into the peanut butter around the edge containing the peel to make 'teeth'.

4. Carefully place the second slice on top of the first being careful not to squash the teeth. Both edges with peel should be facing the same way.

5. Continue until all the apple slices are used up!

We hope you and your pet enjoy making (and eating!) these tasty treats. Have a happy and safe Halloween!
